# Fifty years of earning the right

Heritage is not nostalgia. It is evidence. Every year on the record exists to prove one thing — that when the tolerance is unforgiving and the standard is absolute, Osprey delivers, and has done since 1974.

## Foundations

1974 – 1999

1. 1974 Founded as Osprey Metals — Milland Road, Neath, Wales.
2. 1978 Atomiser design applied to powder production; first licence.
3. 1979 Spray-forming licence sold to Sandvik Steel.
4. 1984 Patent RE31767 — shaped articles from sprayed molten metal.
5. 1985 Becomes part of Sandvik.
6. 1986 Patent 4779802 — gas metal atomiser.
7. 1989 Queen's Award for Export Achievement.
8. 1990 Patent 5110631 — metal spray deposits.
9. 1992 World-leading product; multi-million-dollar contracts.
10. 1995 Fine Powder Plant commissioned.

## Proof, compounded

2000 – 2026

1. 2001 Patent 6312535 — silicon alloys for electronic packaging.
2. 2002 ISO 9001 achieved.
3. 2004 ISO 14001 achieved.
4. 2007 OHSAS 18001 achieved.
5. 2010 Queen's Award for Enterprise, International Trade.
6. 2012 POW 8 — first one-tonne fine-powder plant commissioned.
7. 2017 Golden Helmet — 500 days, zero lost-time injuries.
8. 2019 POW 11 commissioned.
9. 2021 AS9100 aerospace quality and ISO 45001 achieved.
10. 2024 Fifty years of operation.
11. 2026 Independence — Osprey stands on its own with Mimir as new owner.
